It was my first time at Afropunk this year and it was magical and amazing, and everyone was SO fucking cool and stylish and so chill to each other. At the end of the festival everyone held up their hands in the air and chanted “Don’t Shoot” over and over again in remembrance of Mike Brown and Eric Garner, hundreds and hundreds of people. It was so powerful and moved me to tears.
You guys…I’m CRINE. I say this all the time but my teenage years would have been SO DIFFERENT if Afropunk was a thing. The first time I watched the movie I cried for about 5 days because of all the feels. I do think on one hand, feeling so out of place and ‘weird’ made me a more passionate and ultimately a more interesting person, but still - you are so lucky. I went to the FIRST Lollaplaooza wearing a Fishbone shirt that literally said “RACISM SUCKS” on it and white people were like “What are you trying to say? I think your shirt is racist” :(
This dog is way too real
These shows taught me all about animals, science, math, geography, reading, grammar, kindness and friendship.
This will always be golden
I can feel the nostalgia ooze into my bloodstream
PBS was my channel as a kid! Definitely was the channel that I actually learned things from.
